A tarot card is not a verdict. Each of the 78 cards carries a theme, and the reading is the meeting point between that theme and the question you asked. The Tower drawn over a job you already know is ending says something very different from the same card drawn over a marriage. That is why the question matters more than the card.
The Major Arcana, from The Fool through The World, tend to describe the larger arc you are living through. The four suits describe daily life: Cups for feeling and relationship, Wands for drive and creativity, Swords for thought and conflict, Pentacles for money, work and the body. A reading full of Swords is usually a reading about a decision you have been arguing with yourself about.
